At an exclusive function, held at Hotel Grand Hyatt, the First Ever 2017 Lexus LC500 and LC500 Hybrid were launched in Oman. The Guests of Honour at the function were Koji Nagata, General-Manager, Middle East and North Africa Division, Toshiyuki Nakahara — Project General- Manager, Lexus and the creator of the All New LC — Koji Sato, Chief Engineer.

The Lexus LC500 and LC500 H are two versions of the new LC platform that makes the strongest statement yet about the brand’s direction. Designed to capture the premium position in the sports coupé market, the LC500 is powered by a naturally aspirated V8 engine that delivers 476hp and the natural grunt of a V8. The LC500 H is fitted out with a 3.5-litre V6 engine and a hybrid electric drivetrain that offer a total system power of 354HP. The car also gets a 10-speed gearbox that makes it the first time ever in its category, the gearbox is lighter than the usual 8-speed gearbox and allows for a large performance envelope with great fuel efficiency.

Koji Sato, Chief Engineer of the Lexus LC, said: “While maximizing the fundamental taste of the LF-LC, we applied completely different specifications to create a design that goes beyond the concept – a design that will captivate you as soon as you see it. In my view, pursuing beautiful design and elaborating superior performance are two very similar aspects. Beauty is the identity of Lexus’ design. Every feature of the LC is the result of an integrated approach to design and engineering. The entire team has worked together, including engineers and designers, to create such a great car.”

Turning the LF-LC concept into a production model while remaining faithful to its visual excitement required nothing less than a new development process, combining design and engineering disciplines as never before at Lexus. The production LC preserves the concept’s adventurous appearance, and the design itself helped achieve performance targets, especially with regard to the low center of gravity, aerodynamics and high-speed stability.

The Lexus LC500 is seen as the brand’s successor to the RC while incorporating new platform and drive.
