General Motors has announced a massive recall of up to 800,000 trucks from the 2014 model year. These trucks cover the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra 1500 series. Up to 690,000 of these units have been sold in the United States itself while almost 25,000 units have been sold outside the US and Canada market.
The recall is linked to an intermittent low voltage issue that could affect power to the steering assist, specially at low speed turns. The company has worked out a fix that involves reflashing the software. No timetable has yet been announced for the recall.
This is just the latest high volume recall to plague the automotive industry.
