Alfa Romeo chose the precinct of the Royal Opera House in Muscat to launch two all-new models – the Alfa Romeo Giulia and the Alfa Romeo Stelvio and also used the opportunity to show off their 4C.
Commenting on the launch of the three new cars, Hani M. Al Zubair, Chairman of Dhofar Automotive noted, “The launch of the stunning new 4C, Giulia, and Stelvio sees a new page being written for the Alfa Romeo marque in Oman; each offering a perfect blend of the past, present and future and are the most brilliant examples of automotive excellence. It is these very same models that are headlining the Alfa Romeo Brand’s resurgence not just in the Sultanate but the world over and we, as the official dealership of the brand here in the Sultanate, are proud to introduce them as part of our new Alfa Romeo model line-up.”
The Giulia harks back to the spirit of the original 60’s car, with a powerful engine in a light body. The base 2.0-litre engine that powers the lower three grades of the Giulia (Giulia, Super and Veloce) is a unique tune with 280hp on tap. The range topping Giulia Quadrifoglio uses a 2.9-litre turbocharged V6 with 510hp, 600Nm of torque to deliver 0-100 km/h figures of 3.9 seconds and a top speed of 307 km/h. This engine is designed by Ferrari.
The Alfa Romeo Stelvio brings the first mid-size SUV to the brand. Using a platform from elsewhere in the FCA group, the Stelvio uses a similar choice of engines to the Giulia, with the 280hp 2.0-litre turbocharged unit being the base offering and the more powerful Quadrifoglio linked 2.9-litre V6 becoming available in the second quarter of 2018. The gearbox is an eight-speed automatic and the SUV is built to drive like a sportscar using the company’s Alfalink suspension technology and a very direct steering.
“With the all-new 2018 Alfa Romeo Stelvio, where other SUVs stop at utility, Alfa Romeo took on the challenge to create the perfect mix of high performance, capability and design. I am confident, that the Stelvio, together with the 4C and the Giulia will revitalise and raise the Alfa Romeo brand to new heights in the Sultanate,” concluded Hani Al Zubair.
The Alfa Romeo 4C has been in the Sultanate for some time and is known as the exotic sportscar with its carbon-fibre monocoque combined with structural elements in aluminium. The 4C is powered by a 1,750cc four-cylinder engine with direct injection and turbocharging that delivers 237hp and 350Nm of torque. The sports transmission is through a dual-clutch TCT unit with launch control – delivering performance figures of 0-100 km/h in 4.6 seconds and a top speed of 260 km/h.
