Ferrari 812 Superfast launched in Oman

In what could be seen as a red letter day for the Ferrari brand in Oman, importers Alfardan Motors launched the latest V12 car – the 812 Superfast. Coming in as the replacement for the F12 berlinetta, the car is powered by the new 6.5-litre V12 with performance figures of 0-100 km/h in 2.9 seconds and a top speed of 340 km/h.

Commenting on the launch of the brand new super car, Mohamed El Zawawy, Assistant General Manager at Alfardan Motors, said: “We are exhilarated to welcome the latest product from the Maranello stable; the 812 Superfast, to Oman. As the fastest and most powerful Ferrari model ever created, it embodies a level of driving capabilities never seen before. We are proud to showcase a product of such ground-breaking technology and design excellence and are confident that the 812 Superfast will meet the needs of the Omani Ferrari connoisseur all those passionate about beauty, exhilaration and performance.”

The enlarged engine delivers 800PS, 60 PS more than on the F12, and a max torque of 718Nm@7,000rpm on a transaxle architecture that has the engine in the front and transmission in the rear. This also aids in the car’s weight distribution. The 812 also debuts electric power steering in a Ferrari. The steering wheel is programmed to give feedback to the driver through the Peak Performance system, indicating by pressure when the car is reaching the edge of the performance envelope. This sort of feedback is also fed in for Power Oversteer. This partners with the virtual short wheelbase 2.0 system that uses the effect of rear-wheel steering that is integrated with SSC 5, that is tuned for hard performance driving.

Ferrari’s dual-clutch F1-transmission has been worked on, with all gears being shortened by an average of 6% and the calibrated gearshift algorithm shortens response time by 30%.
