KIA Motors has released a couple of images of its new Proceed concept that will debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
The car is called an extended hatchback, although it exhibits the profile of a proper GT car – with an almost shooting brake treatment of the rear end. It has been designed at KIA’s European design centre adjoining the Frankfurt Messe.
The low, lithe model treatment is meant to connect back to the European pro-cee’d model while giving a direction about the future cee’d.
Gregory Guillaume, Chief Designer Europe for Kia Motors, commented: “With many European drivers now seeking performance alternatives to the three-door hot hatch, we began thinking about a different halo model for the cee’d family. The Proceed Concept represents a bold new vision of how the vibrant soul of the pro_cee’d could be reincarnated and revitalised for a new generation of performance-oriented drivers.”
The main features of the Proceed concept are a lack of B-pillars, a lighted framing of the side windows (called a Luminline) and a ‘sharkblade’ to the rear of the doors with the GT badging. The concept also features 20″ wheels.
