New Electric Sports Car – the crowd-funded Alcraft GT

If you are in the mood to be an angel investor in a start up that promises good, clean motoring fun this is your chance. The company is the the Alcraft Motor Company that has been started by David Alcraft and the car is their first project – an all-electric sportscar with a shooting brake style called the Alcraft GT.

You can’t really ask for crowd funds for a concept, so the company is projecting a 2019 production timeframe and has roped in local expert companies to assist. The engineering partner is Silverstone-based Delta Motorsport, with expertise in electric drivetrains and battery systems, while Continental will supply safety systems and Michelin the tyres.

We hope this will establish a niche For Alcraft Motor in Britain’s renowned specialist low-volume car industry.”

The Alcraft GT is set to have a 300 mile range only on batteries (480km) and should be configured as a 2+2 with 500 litres of luggage, making it a practical car. There is a possibility that the car could be offered with a range extender too.

Performance figures quoted are 3.5-seconds for the 0-100kmph mark and the company has shared some drivetrain details in the three-motor driving four wheels layout, with 600hp of power and 1139Nm of torque.
