Porsche has just taken its most powerful sport turismo car and added an extra degree of power and torque, although it is cloaked in the green credentials of a plug-in hybrid system. The Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-hybrid combines the new 4.0-litre V8 biturbo engine with an electric motor resulting in a powertrain that delivers 680hp and 850Nm of torque from the combined system. The 0 to 100 km/h sprint is achieved in 3.4 seconds and the top speed is now 310 km/h.
As expected, the technology is ported from the 918 Spyder, with the electric motor linked through a decoupler linked to an electric clutch actuator. The motor adds on 136hp, while offering a range of 49 kms only on electric, with a top speed of 140 km/h. The Li-ion battery pack is rated at 14.1 kWh and can be charged in as little as 2.4 hours depending on the infrastructure.
The Turbo S E-Hybrid Sport Turismo offers all of the innovations of the second generation of the Panamera. These include the digitalised Porsche Advanced Cockpit, ground-breaking assistance systems such as Porsche InnoDrive including adaptive cruise control and optional rear-axle steering. Another of these innovations is the roof spoiler, which is unique in the segment.
The Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid Sport Turismo is available to order now, with prices starting from EUR 188,592 including VAT in Germany.
