Aston Martin has announced that it is taking its partnership with Red Bull Racing ahead as title sponsor. Next year the team will race as Aston Martin Red Bull Racing.
Red Bull Racing famously collaborated with the Gaydon based British carmaker on the soon to be released Valkyrie hypercar. This partnership is now being projected ahead with a focus on new products and an Advanced Performance Centre on the Red Bull racing campus at Milton Keynes that is expected to generate 110 jobs.
Aston Martin President and CEO, Andy Palmer, said: “Title partnership is the next logical step for our Innovation Partnership with Red Bull Racing. We are enjoying the global brand awareness that a revitalized Formula One provides. The power unit discussions are of interest to us but only if the circumstances are right. We are not about to enter an engine war with no restrictions in cost or dynamometer hours but we believe that if the FIA can create the right environment we would be interested in getting involved.”
That timeframe for the power plant may see some movement in the 2021 season. In the meantime it will be interesting to see how the opportunity is cross branded for the James Bond franchise.
