Kia Motors has announced that it will be showing a new battery electric car concept at the forthcoming CES 2018 in Las Vegas and has released some teaser images of the car.
Kia will also be using the event to outline its future direction in electric vehicles, mobility and technology.
“Virtual reality, self-driving cars, and full vehicle connectivity were all once considered technologies of the distant future. As they rapidly become a reality, Kia is exploring how to adapt these new technologies for its customers. At CES we will share our strategy and vision for future mobility, and exhibit a range of advanced technologies that our customers can look forward to,” said Dr. Woong-cheol Yang, Vice Chairman and Head of Hyundai-Kia R&D Center.
The new concept will not just showcase a new battery-electric powertrain, it will also have a new generation HMI (human machine interface) using a new ‘motion graphic’ lighting system. This will find its way into regular production cars in the near future.
The company will also show three concept cockpits using new elements and featuring driver assistance technologies as well as featuring 5G connectivity for the first time ever.
