British sports car brand Lotus which is under new ownership and management has announced the arrival of 3-Eleven 430, its most powerful track-focused open-cockpit racer.
Similar to the Exige Cup 430 model, 3-Eleven 430 has been endowed with a more powerful engine and improved aerodynamics. A supercharged 3.5-litre V6 engine pumps out 430hp and 425 pound-feet of torque. The extra output helps launch the car from 0-96km/h in 3.1 secs (down from 3.3 secs) and eventually hits 180 mph (up from 174 mph).
Lotus claims that the 3-Eleven is the fastest street legal road car to lap the company’s Hethel track. With more downforce at maximum speed and Michelin Cup 2 tyres, the 3-Eleven boasts lateral acceleration of up to 1.5 g. New brakes are said to improve bite while reducing distortion and vibration, further improving track performance. The 3-Eleven 430 enters the niche fray as a limited production model with just 20 units planned.
