Under new management, Lotus has been pretty quick to get into action, especially with its proposed line-up of products. According to Lotus CEO Jean-Marc Gales two new cars will be added to the line-up in 2020, while an SUV is slated for 2021 or 2022.
Gales also confirmed several new models in the product pipeline, including a new flagship sports car to succeed the aging 3-11. The limited-production car will be focused on the track, though it will be “much more civilized” than the outgoing 3-11. Interestingly, the carmaker is looking at lightweight materials like carbon fibre composites and is said to be working on designing a new tub chassis for the new car based on these materials. In a way, the technology application also continues with the brand’s well-known obsession with weight reduction.
The current bonded aluminium tub architecture will carry forward for another new model, a possible entry level car.
