Ford Motor Co has announced that they will be continuing their special treatment of the Mustang, with the latest edition of the California Special to appear on the 2019 Mustang Coupé and Convertible. These will go on sale in the second half of 2018 in the United States. We should eventually see the California Special head to our region too.
“No doubt, 2019 is an exciting year for Mustang enthusiasts, especially fans of our California Special and BULLITT models,” said Corey Holter, Ford car group marketing manager. “This year further targets hardcore enthusiasts who want even more performance from BULLITT, while new technology – including rev-matching on manual transmission-equipped Mustang GT and active valve performance exhaust on the EcoBoost® model – means even more thrills.”
The car gets rev-matching on its 6-speed manual with 5.0-litre Mustang GT in addition to a uniquely tuned four-way exhaust on the Ecoboost variant. The California Special is identifiable through the fading strip on the door panel, an ebony and red California Special badge on the trunk and blacked out grille. The car also comes with a painted 5-spoke machined alloy wheels.
The interiors get suede-trimmed seats with the GT/CS badging and contrast red stitching. Further badging is visible on the mats and passenger side of the dashboard.
The audiophile will love the car’s 1000 watts B&O PLAY audio system with a 10-channel amp connected to 12-speakers.
