Saud Bahwan Group launched the 2018 Toyota Yaris Sedan in Oman at an event held at their benchmark Wattayah showroom. The 2018 version of the popular entry level sedan features styling changes and a reworked interior while carrying over the choice of either a 1.3-litre or 1.5-litre engine with manual or Multidrive 7S CVT transmission.

Speaking at the launch, Yugo Miyamoto, Toyota’s chief representative for the MENA region said, “Toyota has been selling cars in the Middle East for more than half a century. We pride ourselves on offering the highest levels of safety and quality. We think a Toyota should offer true piece of mind as well as an emotional, fun to drive experience. We are dedicated to making sure that our products exceed all customer expectations.” He added, ” Toyota Yaris is the most trusted entry level car. It is one of the most important cars in our line up. It is often the first contact with Toyota and it must be impressive.”

The new 2018 Toyota Yaris Sedans feature contemporary new styling with a decided shift towards form leading functionality. They offer either a 98hp 1.3-litre 4-cylinder Dual-VVTi engine with a torque of 123 Nm, or the larger 106hp 1.5-litre unit with 140 Nm of torque. Gearbox options are the regular 5-speed manual or Toyota’s latest MultiDrive 7S CVT transmission. Both engines are Euro 4 and the car features a new NVH package along with retuned safety cage and handling.

Chief engineer for the Toyota Yaris, Takatomo Suzuki said, “The Yaris is one of the most popular models Toyota manufactures. It is made in 6 plants and we sell 300,000 units in 120 different countries. When developing the new model, I visited many countries and met many customers. There was something all customers had in common. While they enjoyed the car themselves, they also wanted everyone around them to enjoy the car too.”
