Japanese auto majors Toyota and Suzuki will be extending their announced collaboration in India, where Toyota is likely to use Suzuki’s popular B segment crossover Vitara Brezza and hathcback Baleno to manufacture new products. Reports indicate that Toyota will be looking at an increased localisation of the model lines to make them competitive.

While the timeline for these developments has not been shared, the focus is on lowering costs and being able to offer globally competitive products not just for the local market, but for sales into Africa and other developing markets.

The collaboration will also see Toyota offer its Corolla sedan to Suzuki, while the two companies will jointly develop and produce battery electric vehicles.
