Nissan Middle East has announced changes in their regional footprint along with some positive news about their performance during the last financial year. Regional media were hosted at a conference where the brand’s new managing director Juergen Schmitz communicated an increase in marketshare by 10% in a market where the total industry volume shrank by 9%. Total volume sold by the brand was 108,000 units.

The Middle East operations now no longer include the Saudi Arabian market as an entirely new setup is responsible for activities in the Kingdom. Factoring in the new structure, the relevant indicators show a decline of 11% in sales for the industry in which Nissan claims a marketshare growth of 7% with 84,778 units sold. Overall Nissan marketshare for the new crop of countries that now include some North African nations is pegged at 20%.

Schmitz is also positive about the brand’s prospects during the current financial year in a business environment he foresees as flat. Likely introductions of the new Leaf electric car and further new models to widen the line up are expected to feed in to the expectations of growth in volumes.

The company also used the occasion to launch a new edition of the Pathfinder. While the 2018 Nissan Pathfinder is also upgraded with the provision of new features like foot sensing automatic rear hatch opening in some grades, the 2019 Nissan Pathfinder Midnight edition takes a largely cosmetic path to excusivity.

The midnight edition features a new black grille which is claimed to improve the car’s Cd along with:

  • Black Outside Mirrors
  • Black Roof Rail
  • Black Grade Badge with Midnight Edition Emblem on Lift Gate
  • Black Front and Back Mud Guard
  • Body Coloured Bumper with Black Rear Lower Accent
  • Black Back Door Finisher
  • Black 20” Accessory Aluminum Alloy Wheels
  • Black Rear Spoiler
  • LED High Mount Stop Lamp

Oddly enough, the Midnight edition will be available in White body colour along with a deep metallic grey and Glossy Black.

Juergen Schmitz said about the car, “At Nissan, we are committed to offering our customers new and upgraded variations of their favourite cars. The evolution of the Nissan Pathfinder has resulted in the creation of an iconic range of family-friendly yet technologically innovative SUVs that effortlessly combine style with performance. Four-wheel drive, off-road proficiency and an athletic appearance are the mainstays of the Pathfinder name and remain key requirements for the adventure-inspired customer in this segment today. The 2019 Nissan Pathfinder Midnight Edition is a fresh and exciting addition to our SUV range that stays true to the Pathfinder name and encapsulates its adventurous spirit.”

The new model will be available at Nissan dealers across the UAE and in selected Gulf countries from July 2018 at a price of USD 44,080 (inclusive of 5% VAT). Prices per market will be revealed at their respective launches and will vary from market to market.
