RAM Middle East has announced the availability of the 2019 RAM 1500 in the region, bringing with it a lighter platform, redesigned interiors with a larger 12″ Uconnect screen and a five-stop air suspension.
The new infotainment unit includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto (available even on the smaller 8.4″ screen), USB C type charging ports and a wireless charging point. The new RAM 1500 also gets an active noise cancellation system along with insulated acoustic glass.
The new parking assistant handles both parallel and perpendicular parking. Called ParkSense, it comes with a 360º surround view camera that gives a bird’s-eye view of the surroundings. This also extends the system to blind spot monitoring, rear-cross traffic assist and the reversing camera.
The cabin itself is larger with an extra 4″ of length that translates into a comfortable rear row. In addition the centre console is redesigned with multiple storage options.
The engine option available is the 5.7-litre Hemi V8 unit, with cylinder deactivation and active noise cancellation. It generates 395hp at 5,600rpm and a smooth torque delivery over the rev band with a peak of 556Nm. The RAM 1500 gets larger brake pads and an electric parking brake.
The air suspension now adds an extra 4″ of lift, with the ability to lower the 1500 for boarding passengers. Ground clearance rises to 272mm, with a five step selector. In addition the suspension is self-levelling and adds the ability to select response firmness using bypass valves.
The RAM 1500 range comes in four trims, Big Horn, Laramie, Rebel and Limited.
