General Automotive, the importers for the Mitsubishi brand in Oman, have launched the all-new 2019 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross crossover at their showroom in Athaibah.
The ceremony was attended by Masahiko Takahashi, the President of Mitsubishi Motors Middle East and Africa, together with Hani Zubair, Chairman of the Zubair Automotive Group, and Manoj Ranade, GM of GA.
The new Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross will beef up the brand’s entry level of SUVs. It is powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged DI unit and offers a suite of modern features like two pane panoramic roof, 7″ touch screen infotainment unit and even a head-up display.
Commenting on the launch of the Eclipse Cross, Manoj said, “The Eclipse, one of Mitsubishi’s most iconic and best-selling sports cars ever, had a long-standing a reputation of being fun to drive and featuring some of the most advanced technology for its time. With the all-new Eclipse Cross, the famous moniker is making its jubilant comeback in the form of a crossover SUV, together with the same reputation for class-leading driving dynamics and technology.”

The 2019 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross makes the best of its turbocharged 4-cylinder unit with 147hp and 250Nm of torque mated with a new generation of the brand’s AWD controller. Called Super All-Wheel Control system (S-AWC) that integrates front-rear torque transfer with Active Stability Control, ABS and Active Yaw Control that use brake force to apportion torque across the axle.
The Eclipse Cross offers three driver selectable drive modes – Auto, Snow and Gravel. This is underpinned by the new controller.
The suite of safety and driver assist features also now include Blind Spot Warning, Lane change assist, Rear Cross traffic alert, Forward collision mitigation, Lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control (with distance maintain), Multi-view camera system and auto high beams. The model will be offered in Base and Highline variants.
The Eclipse Cross Base model comes with standard features that cover rear spoiler, colour multi-information display screen, high-contrast meters, Bluetooth wireless technology, steering wheel audio and phone controls, rear view camera, cruise control, dual-zone automatic climate control, power door locks and windows, 18-inch alloy wheels, Fast-key passive entry with push-button start, electronic parking brake with auto hold, LED headlights, and a Head-Up Display (HUD).
The Highline variant further adds a 7-inch smartphone link thin display audio system with Apple CarPlay support and Android Auto compatibility, dual-pane power sliding panoramic sunroof, 710-watt Rockford-Fosgate premium audio system, advanced safety technology (FCM, LDW, AHB), seven airbags, Leather interior, and Navigation.
